One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 just came out recently. For those who watch or read One Piece series, of course, this is one of the their most waited games. one piece pirate warriors 4 review

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 release date is on March 26th for Japan and March 27th for worldwide, which is today. And this game is quite a niche, even though the game is very enjoyable and captivating.

As you may know, One Piece is one of the legendary anime with a complicated plot and has been going for years. So it might be not your best option to start the series. But, we’ll talk about it in more detail later.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Gameplay

One piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has an action, beat ‘em up and adventure genre. The battle is still using Musou gameplay like Dynasty Warriors or the previous Pirate Warriors titles. If you’re not familiar with JRPG Musou games, Pirate Warriors has a similar gameplay like For Honors.

Comparing to the previous titles, Pirate Warriors 4 has some new modes. One of it is Titan Mode, where your opponent will be far bigger than you. So it’ll force you to think another strategy in order to beat them.

There are also more than 40 playable characters you can choose from different arcs and crew. From Going Mery crew like Luffy, Usop, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, and other crew like Smoker, Crocodile, Mihawk, Portgas D Aces, and even Kaido.

Pirate Warriors 4 also has a multiplayer feature where you can play with your friends around the globe. You can play more than 100 side missions that still related to the main arc and story.

Omega Forces and Bandai Namco also has been revealing that there’ll be more character on DLC in the future. In total, there’ll about 50 characters you can play.

Story and Plot

As been said before, most of Pirate Warriors 4 stories will be adapting from the original manga and anime arc. For you who watch and read One Piece, this game will feature Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Marineford, Dressrosa, and Whole Cake Island arcs. I think it’s halfway from the manga and anime series.

But this game also has an original arc named Wano Country. It’s a spin-off but still related to the main arc both for anime and manga. And it’s likely the Wano Country will continue for the next Pirate Warriors series.

But since most of it will be about the main arcs, I can’t guarantee those who didn’t watch One Piece will understand the story in one go. You do can understand, but I think you need to finish it twice from the New Game + to fully understand the whole story.

If you’ve watched the series, it’s likely you’ll enjoy this entire game. You’ll also get a new feeling by playing Luffy or other characters you like when passing certain arcs and places.

Available Platform : PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Price : $59.99 (US)

So, is One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 worth to play? It depends on you. If you haven’t read and watch any One Piece related, this game could be a good start. But you definitely will play the previous title to understand the story.
